Jiménez began his career at Real Madrid, where he won three La Liga titles and two Champions League Cups. He joined Valencia in 2017, winning the Copa del Rey in his only season with the club. He won his first international cap with Spain in November 2010, before being selected by Vicente del Bosque for UEFA Euro 2012. Jiménez was part of the squad that won the 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012, as well as appearing at UEFA Euro 2016, where he finished runner-up to holders Portugal.
